Help Those in Need Have Full Stomachs

Can Drive Help Those in NeedWhile Thanksgiving tables throughout our city will be brimming with turkey, stuffing and other favorite dishes, not everyone will have enough to eat this season. One young man inspired us to do something about it.

A Big Heart Matched by a Large Goal

Last year one of our patient’s sons (an 8-year-old boy) decided he wanted to do a canned food drive because of some homeless people he has seen. The boy wanted to provide some food for them. The boy’s parents helped him, and he was able to collect over 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food! The boy then donated the food to various local charities that distributed it.

This year the boy’s goal is to raise 5,000 pounds of food for charity! Morter Family Chiropractic is proud to partner with this selfless young man. Our office is serving as a collection site to help him reach his goal.

How You Can Help

Please bring in any non-perishable food item to the office. A collection station is set up along with a flier that tells this boy’s story. As we will stop collecting November 22, hurry in with your donations.

Here are some suggested items to bring in:

  • Canned beans
  • Dry beans
  • Peanut butter or other kinds of nut butter
  • Rolled oats
  • Canned soups
  • Canned tuna in water
  • Canned chunk chicken
  • Brown rice
  • Quinoa
  • Pasta sauce
  • Whole grain pasta
  • Unsweetened apple sauce
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Vegetable, chicken or beef stock
  • Canned stews

Thank you, in advance, for helping our neighbors in need have a Happy Thanksgiving!
